Since 2007 James has been working as a Rope Access Rigger working within the Petrochemical & Drilling Sectors throughout the UK and North Sea, where he has developed a vast knowledge working within these disciplines, as well as increasing a broader knowledge of many different trades, whilst working alongside many different trades over the years.
During these 13 years, James has been involved in many high-profile technical projects. From being involved with removing very awkward loads positioned at the underdeck of platforms while working alongside Lifting Barges, to overhauling complete drilling packages, or jack-ups, assembling and erecting new water injection packages and fitting new pipe lines around platforms, whilst working in large multi-disciplined teams or supervising them.
James has worked his way up to becoming an IRATA Level 3. While working as a rigger he has worked in a variety of roles, such as; working as a LOLER Focal Point, a Rigging Supervisor, and as a General Foreman, during his time working within the industry.
As well as his extensive knowledge he has developed working on site, for a number of years James has also worked as an IRATA Instructor -teaching people of all levels to become Rope Access Technicians or further their careers by training them to become IRATA Level 2 & Level 3.
Lance began his rope access journey in 2006, where he started learning and applying his trade as an Industrial painter. Lance throughout his Career has worked on a multitude of different projects across the UK and around the North Sea.
However Lance hasn’t just been applying his painting skills on the ropes within an industrial background, he has been involved with many high profile projects around the UK within the building and monument sectors, such as painting all the structural steel at the top of the Shard, being involved with painting the Tower Bridge & Blackfriars Bridge, and finally he was also part of a large team painting the Cutty Sark in London.
Along with becoming a respected Painter, Lance has also become a very professional & experienced Rope Access level 3 Instructor. He began assisting training courses in 2013, working under David Somers, (whom was a highly respected assessor within the industry), this is where Lance learnt how to teach rope access. During that time Lance believes he learnt an immeasurable amount of new techniques, and gained a vast amount of knowledge towards IRATA Rules and UK Legislation, which he is now able to share when he is instructing training courses.
Over the course of Lances career, he has developed an endless amount of experience; whether it be on site working as a painter, or being a Rope Access Level 3 responsible for the safety of multi disciplined work parties, or teaching in the training centre.
